Jack Kane, 87, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, in his home, surrounded by his wife, daughter, and pets. Jack was predeceased by his brother, Stan, and his son, David. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, children, Robert and Stefanie, and three grandchildren.
Jack was born November 27, 1935, to Joseph and Bertha Kane in Brooklyn, NY. He grew up running around the streets of Brooklyn with his older brother, Stan, loving the Brooklyn Dodgers, and developing an appetite for knowledge. At 15, he chose to remain in New York City, while his mother, father, and brother moved out to California. While working at the local grocery store, theater, and teaching at a dance studio to support himself, he graduated from Brooklyn Tech and went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Brooklyn College. Jack began to work as a tax accountant and proceeded to start a number of accounting firms over the decades. He married his first wife, the late Marsha Blackman, in 1958 and they raised two sons, David and Robert, in Long Island, NY. In 1988, Jack remarried in St. Thomas to Shirley Larrivee, and they adopted their daughter, Stefanie, and lived in New York City before moving to Bedford, NH in 2009.
Jack always devoted his energy to being the best at everything he did. Over the years, he amassed an impressive collection of books and educated himself on many aspects of history. He also earned his pilot license, motorcycle license, scuba certification, and learned to develop his own photographs. With his wise cracks and his ever-apparent smile, he never failed to light up a room.
Those who wish to pay their respects are invited to stop by Jack and Shirley’s house in Franklin, NH on Tuesday, December 27 between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s name can be made to the Granite State Visiting Nurses Association, https://www.granitevna.org/.
