Jackson R. Edwards

Jackson R. Edwards, 82, formerly of Sandown, NH, died November 3, 2005, at Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH. He was born on April 26, 1923, in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, the son of the late Arthur W. and Johanna (Weber) Edwards. He graduated from Kenmore Sr. High School in New York, where he excelled in Football. Mr. Edwards was a W.W. II Navy Veteran. Jackson graduated from Springfield College in Massachusetts in 1950 and began his teaching career in the Clarence Central School District, Clarene, NY, where he taught the fourth, fifth and sixth graders for 35 years. Jack moved to Hampstead, NH in 1994, where he was active in the Sandown Lions Club and St. Matthews Methodist Church. He was an avid reader. He was the widow of Nancy (Sweet) Edwards and was married to her for 26 years. Family members include his daughter, Mrs. David C (Susan) Dupouy of Sandown, his son, Scott R. Edwards of Charlotte, NC., one granddaughter, Johanna R. Dupouy of Sandown, a brother, Roger L. Edwards of Cattaraugus, NY. Jack is the former husband of Shirley Closson of Pennsylvania. SERVICES: A Memorial service will take place on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 2 PM in St. Matthews United Methodist Church, Rt. 121 A, Sandown, NH. Memorial donations may be to the Friends of the Sandown Public Library, P.O. Box 580, Sandown, NH 03873 or the the Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
