Jaclyn Thayer Deyo of Hinsdale, NH, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024 after battling cancer.
Born on October 28, 1952, Jackie grew up in Brattleboro and Guilford, attending Brattleboro Union High School and graduating in 1970. She married her husband, Steven Deyo, also of Brattleboro on October 1, 1971. His job as an engineer allowed them to travel the country and live in many different places including Florida, Louisiana, New Jersey, and Connecticut, where they lived with their children for 10 years before moving to Hinsdale. Jackie worked in the Hinsdale school system as a teacher’s aide for over 25 years where she met and came to know so many teachers and students that she called friends.
A beloved mother, the job she loved most and took most seriously, she was always doing everything she could to help her children in any way that she was able.
Following the death of her husband in 2008, she continued to work until 2015, when she retired to focus on her true passion- spoiling her three grandchildren, who know her as “Mema,” and who brought unimaginable happiness into her life.
She leaves behind her daughter, Amy (Deyo) Welton, her husband Gerald, and their son Geramy of Sandown, NH; Her son Steven Deyo his wife Elizabeth, and their daughters Grace and Hazel of Wethersfield, CT; Her brother Randy, his wife Bonnie and their sons of Tennessee and Colorado; Brother-in-law and and Sister-in-law David and Sherri Deyo of Guilford, VT; Sisters-in-law Jeanne Deyo of Brattleboro and Susan Deyo of Rochester, NH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on October 20, 2024 at the Hinsdale Community Center on Main Street in Hinsdale from 11am to 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Teresa Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at 519 Bridge Street, Manchester, NH 03104, where through the tireless care and compassion of the staff, she finally found the comfort and peace in her final days that she sought during her illness.
