James T. Alexander, 76, of Deerfield, passed away on August 22, 2016 at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester.
Jim Alexander was born on October 16, 1939 in Providence, RI, the son of the late Charles T. Alexander and Marjorie (Blackwood) Alexander.
Raised and educated in Providence, Jim was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence before entering the military.
Jim proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, serving in the submarine service.
Jim moved to New Hampshire in 1961 and settled in Deerfield. Jim served the Town of Deerfield as Selectman from the 1980s until retirement in 2006. He also was a long time member of the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Association.
Jim owned Service Consultants, Inc., an imported car dealership, selling and servicing Jaguar, MG, Triumph, and Land Rover vehicles. He also was the owner of Alexander Chrysler Plymouth on Gold Street in Manchester, retiring in 1991.
Jim was a member of the Deerfield Fair Association from 1966 until 2002, serving as Vice President from 1982 t0 1997 and Superintendent of Concessions from 1976 to 1999. Jim was an avid reader and a collector of antique cars and guns.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Lydia Lauzier of Bedford, NH; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; sister, Jeanne Gibree of Powhatan, VA; and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, James T. Alexander.
At the family's request, all services will be held privately. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of New Hampshire.
