JAMES W. BENTLEY Jan. 4, 2007 - Newmarket, NH. James W. Bentley, 75, of 210 Grant Road, Newmarket, NH, died at his home after a long illness. Born on Feb 1, 1931 in Durham, NH, he was the son of John W. Bentley and Signe (Skogberg) Bentley. He attended Newmarket Schools. He served in the US Army during the Korean War served on patrol on the Russian and German Border. He was employed by Union Local 131 and worked on many local landmark buildings. He retired in 1988. He was loving husband of 54 years to Olive (Roper) Bentley and beloved father to his son William Bentley and his wife Linda of Yuma, Arizona, and to his daughter Lori Carmichael and husband Jason of Newmarket, NH. He was the proud grandparent of five grandchildren Derek Bentley and wife Katie of Epping, Cari Bentley, James "Bobby" Carmichael, Samuel Carmichael and Jeffrey Carmichael of Newmarket. He is survived by, sisters Signe Stevenson of Newmarket, Mary Dupre of Exeter, Evelyn Stephens of Alabama and his brother, John Bentley of Newmarket and 34 nieces and nephews and his aunt, Ruth Siluva of Gardiner Ma. He was predecesed by his parents John and Signe Bentley and his brothers Joseph Bentley and David Bentley. He was an avid racing fan and travelled throughout the Northeast, Carolinas and Arizona with his son and grandson Derek. He loved to take long rides in the country, showing his children and grandchilden the wonderful things in theNew England Area. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring. The Cremation Society of NH is in charge of arrangements.
