James Clifford Edge

James Clifford Edge was born on October 6, 1945 to James Lewis Edge and Mildred Elizabeth Edge in London, England.

James is survived by his wife, Pamela Edge, his son, Gregory Stride (Bronwyn) from New Zealand, his daughter, Jodi Brocki (James) from Arizona, his son, Mark Stride from England, his brother, Jeff Edge (Adele) from New Zealand, step-daughter Jennifer Cullity (Paul) from New Hampshire, step-son Christopher Hagemo (Kelly) from Florida, grandchildren (Dylan Edge, George Stride, Radek Brocki, Kyla Edge, Cliodhna (Clee) Stride, Nathan Hagemo, Ian Hagemo, Jameson Brocki, Cadence Hagemo, Conor Cullity, and Evan Cullity), along with many family and friends across the world.

During his life in the UK, James had a wide variety of jobs from working for HM Royal Post Office starting at age of 15, a chauffeur for the British government, a chauffeur for executives at Sea Containers,a department manager for a large box DIY store, a semi-truck driver for Westland Helicopters, and also did Amway with Gillian (his late wife). In New Zealand, James was a Tip Top delivery driver, a concierge at the Sheraton Hotel in Auckland, and chauffeur for Carter Holt Harvey. In the US, James became a flight attendant for US Airways (aka American Airlines after the merger/acquisition). James retired in 2002 from the airlines.

James was genuinely talented when it came to sports in his ability to play them as well as follow them as a fan. He loved futbol and was a die-hard Chelsea fan from the age of 5 going to games with his dad and sitting on his shoulders. James was a great table tennis player and won numerous trophies while working for the Post Office. James loved golf, tennis, cricket, rugby, cycling, and boxing.

James's love and care for animals was evident when I met him, but it grew and grew with each passing year. Our trip to Africa in 2016 and move to New Hampshire, USA allowed him to become more of a friend and provider to his furry, feathered, masked, prickly, and stinky friends from the preserve next to our home in New Hampshire. James loved them all including: gray squirrels, red squirrels, chipmunks, a wide range of birds, wild turkeys, raccoons, porcupines, foxes, possums, skunks, deer, and occasional bears around hibernation. He had special treats he provided daily and talked to them all the time. And of course, James thoroughly loved our cats and dotted on them all the time.

James passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9th, 2023 at 3:01 am surrounded by his family after battling prostate cancer for 17 years and a rare sarcoma cancer for 16 months.

James was dearly loved for his infectious smile, his dry English wit, his laughter, his accent, his loving and kind heart, and his love and loyalty to his family, friends, and Chelsea.

The memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2023, 3-4:30pm Eastern. The service will be officiated by Pastor Paul Cullity Sr and will can be attended in person at James's and Pamela's home in New Hampshire as well as via Zoom. If you want to attend the services in person, please reach out to Pamela directly. If you want to attend via Zoom, reach out to jodiedge@gmail.com or pledge8813@gmail.com for the Zoom links.

** Since James loved Chelsea, we decided to make this service 'Chelsea Blue'. If you have Chelsea attire, please wear it. Otherwise, royal blue will work.
