James Edward Hanley of Hollis, New Hampshire, died surrounded by family on Sunday, April 9, 2006 due to complications from leukemia. He was 75 years old. Jim was born in Baldwinsville, New York in 1930, the son of William James Hanley and Ella Marie Devereaux) Hanley. He graduated from Baldwinsville High School in 1947 before going on to serve in the Navy aboard the destroyer, USS Coney during the Korean War. He earned a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign prior to settling in the greater Boston area. His most recent position before retiring was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Microwave Logic in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Jim was active in community organizations, serving on the Board of Directors of the Nashua Chamber Orchestra for seven years, including a stint as Vice President. He was a dedicated volunteer at SCORE (Service Core of Retired Executives) for over 10 years, serving as Vice Chair and, most recently, as Chapter Chair of the Merrimack Valley Chapter, where he continued to counsel clients up until the week before his death. He was known in both groups for his gentlemanly qualities, skill, and good humor. He enjoyed music, travel, hiking, and photography. A lifelong sports car and auto-racing enthusiast, he was a member of the Porsche Club of Americas Northeast Region and North County Region clubs, and participated in their autocross and touring events around New England for many years. He was a fitness enthusiast and member of the YMCA in Nashua, where he attended aerobics class daily for over 25 years. He is survived by his fiancé, Ann Richardson of Hollis, New Hampshire; his daughters, Elizabeth Hanley of Walpole, Massachusetts and Susan Hanley of San Francisco, California; son, Edward Hanley of Antrim, New Hampshire; his future stepchildren Allyson Hendriks of Harvard, Massachusetts, Mellissa Belden of Milford, New Hampshire, Robert Richardson of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Mark Richardson of Hollis, New Hampshire; brothers, William Hanley of Houston, Texas, Francis Hanley, of Columbia, Pennsylvania, John Hanley of West Henrietta, New York; sisters, Mary Herndon of Iowa City, Iowa and Eleanor Hanley of Seabrook, Texas; two grandsons, Christopher and Jesse Perry of Walpole, Massachusetts; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 20, at 2:00 pm at the East Cemetery on Wheeler Road in Hollis, New Hampshire.
