James C. Hanlon, 72, of 209 Roxbury St., Keene, died Monday morning at his home after a period of failing health. He was born in Providence, R.I. September 23, 1931 son of Bernard and Alice (Fournier) Hanlon. In 1961 he married Madeleine Poissant of East Burke, VT. He attended LaSalle academy and graduated from Roger Williams College with a degree in Health Services Administration-Engineering. A veteran of the Merchant Marine and Coast Guard. He served aboard the US Coast Guard Cutter Eastwind from 1950 to 1953 crossing the Artic Circle twice. From 1964 to 1975 he was Chief Engineer at Kent County Memorial Hospital in Warwick, RI and from 1975 to 1980 he was the Building and Grounds Administrator at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. He ran his own Heating and Refrigeration Supply business, and ran Building Operations at Northfield Mount Hermon and the Keene YMCA before retiring in 1993. He was past President of the National Association of Power Engineers, New England Hospital Engineers Association and guest lecturer at Rhode Island Junior College. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Colleen Seymour (and her husband Cliff) and Lisa Garzia (and her husband Corrado); his son Brian (and his wife Kendra); Granddaughters, Katherine Hanlon and Cally Seymour; Grandsons, Eammon and Josef Hanlon, Juliano and Dante Garzia; his mother, Alice Hanlon (100 years old); a sister, Claire McDermott; three brothers, Bernard, Bill and Richard Hanlon (his brother Joe, passed away in 1990); and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 13th at 9:30 am at St Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Keene. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of his life will immediately follow the memorial service and will be held at 209 Roxbury St. Keene.
