James A.(Bud)Mullen, 95, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at his daughter and son-in-law's home in Hampton, NH. He was born on March 24, 1910, in Bristol, RI, the fourth of six children to Michael and Hannah (Hickey) Mullen. Bud was employed by Bethlehem Steel at the Quincy Shipyard for 44 years as a pipe fitter and manager. The Mullen family lived in Braintree, MA, for over 25 years. His volunteer activities included Little League, Cub Scouts, the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Meals-on-Wheels, and the F.I.S.H. driving program. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. In 1980, Bud and is wife retired to Cape Cod where they lived in East Dennis and Orleans, MA. Mildred (Wilson) Mullen, his beloved wife of 60 years, died in 2001. In 2003, Bud moved to Hampton, NH, to live with his daughter and son-in-law. Bud was a devoted husband, father, and devout Catholic. He attended The Church of St. Claire in Braintree, Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster, and The Church of St. Joan of Arc in Orleans. He received loving ministry from Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church while living in Hampton. Bud understood life's true priorities, and he lived with dignity, honesty, compassion, and a sense of humor. His life personified the Golden Rule, and his devotion to God and his family are his legacy to his children and grandchldren. At 91, he fulfilled a life-long dream by traveling to Irland with his family to visit his mother's birth place. He also celebrated his 95th birthday in March at Hampton's Galley Hatch Restaurant with 85 guests in attendance. He is predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and John, and by his sisters, Winifred Canavan, Katherine Mullen, and Anna Moran. Bud will be greatly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Brian Roessel of Hampton, NH, and his grandaughters, Meghan and Amy; by his son and daughter-in-law James Jr. and Donna Mullen of Apex, NC, and his grandson, Adam; and by many nieces and nephews and friends. Services: Mr Mullen will be cremated, and funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH.
