James Edward Murray of Weare, NH, passed peacefully at VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH on November 20, 2019 with his wife and children at his side.
Jim was born in Lowell, MA to Frank A. and Mildred (O'Shaughnessy) Murray.
He grew up in Methuen, MA and attended Methuen schools, graduating from Tenney High in 1968. He served in the US Army as a Communication Specialist in 1968 and 69. Jim successfully started and operated Jim Murray Construction until retirement. His creativity and eye for detail drove his passion for building furniture, cabinetry, kayaks and handcrafted pieces that will live on as a legacy to his innovative workmanship.
Jim loved the outdoors and could usually be found near the ocean, lake or stream kayaking, camping, boating or fishing any time of year. He shared that love with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was drawn to his natural surroundings, loved photography and just being in the moment whenever possible.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Sandra (Gagnon); his two daughters, Leah and husband Michael Borla, and Meghan and husband, Michael Sirois; and son, Keefe and wife Madeline (Carroll) of Hopkinton, MA; 7 grandchildren, Kailee, Meghan, Brady, Olivia, Bryson, Maisie and Isla Grace and all the people he blessed with his humor and friendship throughout his life. Jim also leaves his brother, Frank A. and wife Donna Murray of Methuen, MA; two sisters, Mildred and husband Ronald Bretton of Windham, NH, and Barbara and husband Jack Chapman of Auburn, NH, as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Celebration of Life will be held by the family on January 5, 2020 from 1:00P.M. to 3:00P.M. at the McLane Audubon Center, 84 Silk Farm Rd. Concord, NH.
