James ''Jim'' Watson Nute, 69, of 29 Fairway Drive, Derry, NH died November 10, 2001, at Parkland Hospital, Derry. He was born in Manchester, NH on January 16, 1932, the son of the late James and Katherine (Watson) Nute and lived 17 years in Southern California and the past 12 years in Derry. Jim was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict with the submarine service. He was a graduate of St. Anselm College and received a Masters Degree in English at the University of Southern California. Mr. Nute taught English and Science at the High School Level in New Hampshire and also taught English at the University of Southern California. He later was an industrial chemical salesman. He enjoyed writing fiction and poetry. Family members include his wife of five years, Melinda (Hussong) Nute of Derry, three sons, James C. Nute of San Diego, California, Carl D. Nute of Waltham, Massachusetts and Kristofer K. Nute of Corona, California, eight grandchildren, one brother Peter E. Nute of Seattle, Washington, one niece. MEMORIAL SERVICES: There will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a service at the First Parish Church, 47 E. Derry Road, Derry, NH on Friday, November 23, 2001 at 7 PM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
