James Leo Orestis, age 67, passed away on Sunday June 4th at the Greenbriar Home due to cardiac complications. Born on March 26, 1956 in Manchester, NH, he was the son of the late Leo James Orestis and Joanne (Desmarais) Orestis.
Jim, or Jimmy as he was known to those close to him, was a lifelong son of the Queen City, matriculating through Bakersville, Southside Jr. High and ending up at Memorial High where he was known as a fierce football player. As a young man Jim was an avid fisherman who loved fishing the warmer months and ice fishing. Those who knew Jim will recall him as a drum kit aficionado who could beat the skins with the best of them and loved the chance to entertain. Jim also built a first rate ‘70s custom retrofitted van and loved his KZ 1000 motorcycle.
Jim is survived by his four children, Jill Riley (and husband John) of Stockton Springs , ME; Alyssa Orestis of Searsport, ME; Jamie Orestis of Stockton Springs, ME; and Jesse Leo Orestis of Chelsea, MA; sisters Nancy Stebbins of Lisbon, NH, and Melissa Robertson (and husband Andrew) of Deerfield, NH; and his five grandchildren Caitlyn, Timothy, Madison, Taylor, and Isabel.
Jim was his own man, who made his own choices. Remember him in the good times. He left a legacy, he will be missed.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
