James Pierce

James Benedict Pierce, Jr., passed away comfortably in his home in Manchester, NH on May 5, 2023, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and cancer.

              James “Jim” was born on January 19, 1949. He was the son of James Sr. and Gurina Pierce. He is survived by his children, Brian of Trout Lake, Washington, and Melissa of Chicago, Illinois; his sisters, Nancy Pierce of Beverly, MA, and Kathy Pierce of Arizona and Cape Cod; as we all several nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his brother, Raymond.

              He spent his early years in the Arlington, Massachusetts area, where some of fondest memories playing hanging at Charlie's and growing a big garden. Jim was owner and operator of Pierce Floor Coverings and took great pride in his work. He enjoyed fishing, hiking and camping. He loved to garden both vegetables and flowers and had an impeccable green lawn that he mowed with an old-fashioned manual mower. He could be found most evenings socializing and eating at new restaurants, sitting on his front porch relaxing or glued to the TV watching the Bruins. He enjoyed his food, especially a good pizza. One of his favorite places was Tano’s Pizza in Manchester, NH. He was a sponsor and mentor in the community.

              Jim has many dear friends including Lionel Grassi, William “Rocco” Savini, Jerome “Jerry” Grablewski, Emile “Emo” Boucher, and his devoted live-in friend and caretaker, Joseph Maio and his wife Cindy, who allowed him to comfortably remain in his home per Jim’s wishes.
