OBITUARY: JAMES W. ROGERS, AKA JAMES W. STAFFORD-ROGERS
James W. Stafford-Rogers, 72, of Hudson, NH died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Kindred Healthcare in Nashua, NH after a 4 year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Salisbury Beach, MA on November 6, 1940, the son of the late George Stafford and Doris Oakes. Jim was the beloved husband of Cheri (Lyddy) Stafford-Rogers. They would have celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on July 9th.
Jim retired from the US Postal Service in 2002. He worked in the Amesbury MA office as a letter carrier. He was a retired US Army nuclear weapons technician who served his country for over 20 years. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. Besides his wife Cheri, Jim is survived by his sister, Nancy Johnson and her husband Ernie Shores, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He was predeceased by his sister Claire Murphy who passed in April of this year.
Jim had four children who made him proud: Thomas Rogers and his fiancée Lisa Frost of Saugus, MA, Patrick Rogers and his wife Sally of Amesbury, MA, Kitty Fitzgibbons and her husband Mike of Sandown, NH, and his loving stepdaughter, Jill Curran, of Hudson, NH. He also leaves behind his "other daughter, Katie Beaulieu of Woburn, MA. His little puppy, Toula, will miss her daddy very much. Jim's love for his granddaughters, Elise Rogers, Cora Fitzgibbons and Nevaeh Rogers, will live on forever.
Jim had a big smile, a big laugh and an even bigger heart. Before his illness he worked diligently to help the Hudson Seniors get a Senior Center which just broke ground last month. He was a founding member of the Ottarnic Pond Mountain Dulcimer Club and enjoyed playing with the group and attending workshops all along the east coast with Cheri. His stories featuring Ed and Edna of Kittery, Maine, have become legendary.
Jim also leaves behind his loving brothers and sisters-in law, Austin Lyddy and fiancée Ruth Ross of Spring Hill, Florida, Pat and husband Don Nichols of Hudson, NH, Bob and wife Angie Lyddy of Las Vegas, NV, and Denise Lyddy and fiancée Bruce Ouellette of Nashua, NH. Jim leaves many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends as well.
