Jane J.
Demaine
Feb 4, 1929 — May 20, 2026
Jane J. Demaine, a radiant soul whose life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and compassion, passed away peacefully at her home on May 20, 2026.
Born on February 4, 1929, in New York City to George and Anna (Burah) Melkonian, Jane's life was a testament to the beauty of living authentically and joyfully. Jane was predeceased by her beloved husband, Mahlon O. Demaine, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, leaving a legacy that will continue to flourish through their descendants.
Jane is survived by her three children, Paulette Donahue and her husband, Peter Chase, Stanley and his wife, Gail Demaine, and Marla and her husband, Bill Lane. Her family tree extends lovingly to include five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grand babies, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who became like family over the years.
A dedicated and nurturing spirit, Jane spent her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, offering care and comfort in hospitals and nursing homes. Her professional journey also led her to serve as a secretary at The Danville Elementary School, where her infectious enthusiasm inspired countless young minds. In her later years, Jane brought her versatility and vivacious energy to NH Transformer, where she wore many hats, embodying a free spirit and a zest for life that was both admirable and infectious.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jane's heart truly belonged to her family and friends. Her home was always open, filled with the warmth of her sharp wit and the sound of laughter. Jane had a rare gift for bringing people together, making them feel valued, and encouraging everyone to embrace life with as much fervor as she did. Her mantra, "No tears, think happy thoughts and much laughter," encapsulated her philosophy and the joy she spread wherever she went. Jane's hobbies and interests were as diverse as her spirit, yet none were more important than the time she spent with her loved ones. She had an uncanny ability to make anyone feel at ease, and her wisdom was a guiding light for those fortunate enough to know her. Jane lived her life fully and encouraged others to do the same, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.
In accordance with Jane's wishes, there is no service at this time though if you would like to make a donation in her name to the Vic Geary Senior Center is welcome. Vic Geary Drop In Center, 18 Greenough Rd, Plaistow, NH 03865.
Though she has departed from this world, Jane J. Demaine's legacy of love, laughter, and light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched. Her spirit lives on in the joyful memories and happy thoughts she so cherished, reminding us all to live with the same grace and exuberance she had.
