Jane Laramie Gillies Loving mother, devoted wife Jane E. (Laramie) Gillies, 49, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family following a three year battle against lung cancer on Sunday, February 20, 2005 at her parent’s home in Pembroke. She was born in Concord on July 31, 1955, the eldest daughter of Henry and Ellen (Chaput) Laramie. Raised in Pembroke, she attended local schools. An environmental advocate, she worked twenty years for the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. An avid outdoor and wildlife enthusiast, she inspired many others to appreciate animals and natural beauty. Jane also had a passion for cooking and catering family and private events. For the past four years Jane treasured times spent with her two grandchildren, her mother, family and friends. A loving mother and devoted wife, Jane leaves her husband of 17 years, Kurt Gillies of Concord; her daughter, Kristine Graeme of Loudon and her husband, Russell and their sons, Kyle and Trever; as well as her son, Bryan Gillies, currently serving in the US Army, El Paso, Texas. She also leaves her mother, Ellen Laramie of Pembroke; two sisters, Linda Laramie of Belmont, Sally Copp of Concord; and a brother, Steve Laramie of Barnstead. She was predeceased in June 2002 by her father, Henry A. Laramie, a well respected New Hampshire wildlife biologist. A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, February 26th at 10:00 AM at the Concordia Lutheran Church, North Main Street in Concord. Burial will take place at a later date in the family plot at Pembroke Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Payson Center, 250 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301 or the Society for the Protection of NH Forests, 54 Portsmouth Street, Concord, NH 03301.
