JANE DENNY KENTNER, 1917-2004 Jane Denny Kentner of Vero Beach, Florida, died Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the Inn at Spruce Wood in Durham, New Hampshire. Jane Frances Denny was born July 18, 1917 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Jane (Archer) and James Francis Denny. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh, class of 1938. Following the completion of her studies, she worked in managerial positions with Westinghouse during and after World War II. In 1948, she married widower Edward James Kentner of Buffalo, New York, and was a devoted wife to him and loving mother to his three children, Judy, Kathy, and Jim, and to their daughter, Ellen. Together, Ed and Jane managed several branches of Gattles Fine Linens, a family business, in locations in Florida, Michigan, and North Carolina. Jane cherished her family and enjoyed a wide circle of friends. She was always active in church life, most recently at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, Florida and St. Marys of the Hills in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Education was an important interest in her life, and she was a member of the American Association of University Women and PEO International. She is survived by her husband, Edward, currently staying in Durham, NH; her sister, Dr. Helen Causey of Normal, IL; four children: Judith Tartkoy of Agat, Guam, Kathleen Kentner of Durham, NH, James Kentner of Blowing Rock, NC, and Ellen Kentner Aitken of Wellington, FL; six grandchildren: Lori Klement of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Hart of Santa Monica, CA, David Criswell of Dover, NH, Jonathan Criswell of Littleton, NH, Mark Kentner of Vero Beach, FL, and Isobel Aitken of Wellington, FL; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service and celebration of Janes life will be held at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, Florida on Wednesday, December 29th, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janes memory may be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Church Memorial Fund, 475 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, FL, 32968, or to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH, 03833.
