Janet Walter Aversa, 87, of White Oak Road, Center Barnstead, New Hampshire, died August 11, 2021, at Concord Hospital with family by her side. Janet was born April 7, 1934, in Yonkers, NY, daughter to the late Robert Walter and Ella Walter (Smith).

Janet was a hard-working woman, a dedicated wife, and mother to her 5 children. She enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing food, was an amazing cook, loved bird watching, listening to the loons in the evening, and loved entertaining for family which became a summer vacation destination for many cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family members for many years. She was a Cub Scout and Brownie Leader and a handy woman around the house, painting, wallpapering, rewiring lamps, sanding and urethaning her hardwood floors. She was an avid gardener and had an amazing flair for country-style decorating, she loved collecting antiques which added to her decoration style.
Of particular importance to Janet was the farm and camp on Province Road in Barnstead. Janet and Fred, along with their five children worked tirelessly refurbing and improving the farmhouse and the land on which it sat. It was a labor of love. Janet and Fred were successful in creating a beautiful farmhouse, but more importantly a loving and comfortable home and atmosphere for them and their five children. Also, she was an entrepreneur opening her own business, Von Walter Boarding Kennels on Province Road. She operated the kennel boarding dogs and cats for over 20 years and raised and showed German Shepard dogs. In her retirement from the kennel, she continued tending to her flower gardens, watching her birds, listening to the loons, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her five children: Randolf Aversa and his wife Linda Sue of Concord, NH, Daniel Aversa and his wife Carla of Concord, NH, Bobbie Aversa of Loudon, NH, Judith Stowell and her husband Andrew of Barnstead, NH, and Michael Aversa of New Durham, NH, 11 grandchildren: Shawn Aversa, Jami Aversa, Andrea Aversa, Jillian Couture, Kristen Riley, Anna Stowell, Brandon Aversa, Jessica Beaton, Haleigh Aversa, Matthew Aversa, and Melissa Stowell, 10 great grandchildren, Dominic Aversa, Deanna Aversa, Olivia Beaton, Chase Couture, Mackenzie Couture, Jackson Beaton, Theodore Stowell, Frederick Perron, Declan Riley, and soon to be, Lillian Perron, and numerous nieces and nephews. Janet is predeceased by her loving husband, Ferdinando “Fred” Aversa, her sister, Francis Ferry, and her grandchild, Theresa Aversa.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Granite VNA Home Health Care in Concord, NH, particularly the nursing staff for their care, attention, and kindness.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 20, 2021, at the Saint Katharine Drexel Parish, 40 Hidden Springs Rd, Alton, NH, at 2 pm, committal services will be held promptly afterwards at Riverview Cemetery, 201 Parade Road, Barnstead, NH.
Donations in Janet’s honor, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to the Granite VNA, 30 Pillsbury St, Concord, NH 03301. Arrangements were handled by the Cremation Society of New Hampshire.
