Janet Accettura Snyder, age 50, born November 26, 1957, passed away the evening of September 27, 2008 at her home in Chester NH, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. In her life, she was born in La Grange Park, Ill, grew up in Wyckoff NJ, and then received her BSEE degree from Cornell University in 1979. After school she moved to Andover MA, where she was employed by Hewlett Packard Company as an Electrical Engineer from 1980 to 1987. In 1984, Janet married Richard Snyder and moved to Chester, NH. Janet and Richard raised three beautiful children: Jacqueline, age 15, Suzanne, age 19, and Christopher, age 20. Janet was active in her community, serving with the Chester Friends of the Library, and as member of the Board of Directors of the Children's Metamorphosis Museum in Londonderry from about 1990 to 1997, as well as other community projects related to education. She also did volunteer work and substitute teaching at Hampstead Academy, and was a Destination Imagination Coach and Official. Janet was blessed with a gift for teaching Mathematics, and pursued a graduate degree in Math Education at the University of New Hampshire. In 2007 and 2008 she did her teaching internship at Manchester West High School and at Bedford High School, where she was loved by her co-workers and her students. Janet was a daughter, a sister, a loving wife and mother, an equestrian and Equestrian Mom, an engineer, and a teacher. She loved and was loved by many, many friends. She is survived by her husband Richard, son Christopher, daughters Suzanne and Jacqueline, mother Mabel Accettura of Wyckoff, NJ, sister Linda Townsend of Lawrenceville, NJ, brothers Raymond of Wyckoff, NJ, Paul of Milledgeville GA, and Carl of Salt Lake City, UT. Janet was predeceased by her father, Guy Accettura, who died in 1991. A service celebrating the life of Janet will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 10AM at the Congregational Church in Chester, New Hampshire. A private internment will be at Great Hill Cemetery in Chester, NH at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
