Janet Vaast

Janet Neuger Vaast, 86, of Venice, FL entered into eternal rest on February 4, 2024 at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Janet was born on March 16, 1937 in Norwalk, CT. 

On December 21, 1958, Janet married Peter F. Vaast. They shared 63 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death in 2022.

Janet was a teacher in the Norwalk Connecticut School system for the entirety of her teaching career. In her retirement, Janet spent her winters in Venice, Florida where she was an active member of the Evangelistic Covenant Church of Bay Indies. She enjoyed singing in the choir and hearing her husband play the piano every Sunday. Janet spent her summers in New Hampshire where she enjoyed spending time with family.

Janet leaves behind her daughter, Nancy LaPorte and husband Barry, grandchildren Jason LaPorte, Alyse Mundt and husband Alex, as well as great grandchildren Henry and Emily Mundt. Janet is also survived by her brother, Paul Neuger and wife Carol. 

Janet will be laid to rest next to her husband in New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Evangelical Covenant Church of Bay Indies, PO Box 237, Venice, FL 34284.
