Janice Grace Brown, daughter of William Gilbert Brown and Elizabeth Anne Brown, passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of seventy-one.
Throughout her life, Janice dedicated herself to caring for others, both human and animal. Her diverse career included work as a veterinarian assistant, hospital operator, kennel operator, and emergency 911 operator. She served in several hospitals across Massachusetts and New Hampshire, concluding her career at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
One of Janice's greatest joys was rescuing abused dogs, patiently nursing them back to health, and training them to become service dogs. Her compassion created safe havens for countless animals who had known only hardship.
After battling severe complications of diabetes, Janice—a committed Christian—faced her passing with faith and peace, confident in the promise of resurrection and her eternal home with the Lord.
Janice is survived by her brother, William Brown, and his wife Nancy; two nieces, Natalie Wenninger and Heidi Livingston; and ten great-nephews and great-nieces. Her family treasures memories of watching vintage films together, playing the card game Liverpool with our mother Betty in Watertown, Massachusetts, after enjoying mom’s exquisite Italian cooking, sledding down New Hampshire slopes on cardboard boxes, swimming in the Hudson River, camping on Lake George, and taking woodland walks with her beloved dogs.
She will be greatly missed.
