Jay Overton Beckett, 68, of Concord, NH, passed away at Concord Hospital on Friday November 26, 2021, after a long period of failing health.
Jay was Born on June 11, 1953, in Concord to the late Joseph Overton "Ozzie" Beckett and Edna (Stoddard) Beckett. He grew up in Pembroke and attended Pembroke Academy where he played basketball and excelled in mathematics. He went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico. After graduation, he lived in Albuquerque, NM for a number of years, before returning home to NH where he worked for many years at the family business, Evans Printing Company, until it's change of ownership. He then went on to work for the local post office and at McLane Distributors in Contoocook, NH, from which he eventually retired.
Jay enjoyed following all New England's professional sports teams, politics, learning about technology, and continuing to dabble with complex mathematical equations. He also enjoyed any family time he could get and took particular interest in the lives of his niece & nephews in Montana. He was especially proud of their service to our country.
In addition to his parents, Jay was predeceased by his brother John Beckett of Missoula, Montana. He leaves behind many cousins throughout the country. Local relatives include Joyce Scannell of Concord, NH, Scott Beckett and his wife Jeannine of Sanbornton, NH, and Stu Beckett and his wife Kathy of Concord, NH.
Private graveside services with the family will be held at a later date.
