Jean Dockray (Carr)

Jean Dockray (Carr) of Loudon, NH, 64, passed away on January 17th 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous 3-year battle with Glioblastoma.

She was born in Stoneham, MA on January 24th, 1959 to Claire B. Dockray (Donovan) and John E. Dockray of Tewksbury, MA. She was also predeceased by her father-in-law John P. Carr II.

Jeanie is survived by her three children and their families: Johnny, Carolyn, Charlotte, and Owen Carr  of Loudon; Jennie, Keith, and Emersyn of Canterbury; Jill Carr and their beloved dog Ellie of Loudon; her four sisters and their husbands: Diane and Peter Hallahan of Haverhill, MA; Michele and Harvey Sullivan of Tewskbury, MA; Marie and Cris Cole of Bluffton, SC; Allison and Tim Otis of Litchfield, NH; her Mother-in-Law Joan Carr of York, ME; her four brothers-in-law and their wives of York, ME; Jim and Jeanne Carr, Joe and Kate Carr, Jerry and Sandi Carr, and Jeff and Vicki Carr; and her many, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Jeanie grew up in Tewksbury, MA and attended high school there where she was a majorette with her best friend, Peggi Sawicki (Brothers). They remained best friends and shared many wonderful adventures together, up into her final days. This friendship is a true testament to how devoted Jeanie was to her relationships with friends and family.

Upon getting married in 1982, she moved to NH with her former husband, where she raised her family, devoting herself entirely to being an incredible Mom. She was an active member of St. Marks Church for many years where she walked to mass with her kids each Sunday. In 2000 she moved to Canterbury, NH where she was involved with all activities her kids were interested in. She was active in the local snowmobile club, helping regularly with fund-raising events. Later in life she worked as an office manager at K&M Drywall, and then as an office manager for Energy Improvements in Concord, NH before retiring early due to her diagnosis. Jeanie was the epitome of class and dedication and was always incredibly hard-working in every aspect of life. She was kind and friendly to all who had the opportunity to know her.

During her childhood, Jeanie would spend summers at the family’s camp on Northwood Lake. She shared many wonderful memories of growing up with her sisters on the lake, from waterskiing behind her Dad’s boat to dressing up and decorating for the boat parade. The lake became a special place to then share with her children, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren. She loved spending summers and sometimes a few winter days by the lake. She loved working on projects around the camp to make it more enjoyable for all, much like her Dad. She enjoyed sunset cruises on the pontoon boat with family, kayaking around the island, and watching the dogs and kids jump off of the dock and diving board. “Auntie J” made the camp on Northwood Lake a home and thanks to her, the camp will always be a special place for friends and family.

Jeanie’s life was full of love for her family. She was a Mom and Nana above all else and her generosity showed no bounds. She never missed an opportunity to support those she loved and was always willing to help, whether it be by opening her home to friends and family, making delicious meals to share, or just being a friend.  She will forever be remembered for her loving, caring, and gentle ways, her kind words in every thoughtfully written note, her Tewksbury Treats, and her beautiful personality.

SERVICES: A celebration of life for Jeanie will be held at Pembroke Pines Country Club on February 5th, 2024 from 2-6 pm. Please join us in celebrating a beautiful person with a heart of gold. We invite you to share stories and photos of your own great times shared with Jeanie and her family.
