Jean Brennan Stafford

Listen to Obituary

Jean Brennan Stafford was born with a green ribbon in her hair on Saint Paddy’s Day March 17, 1948 and passed away with family by her side on October 14, 2025. Jean was a kind and happy person who loved her early years growing up in Weare with her siblings Art, Joan, and Jane and their group of neighborhood friends. Jean grew up on a farm in Weare, NH. Her father Joe Brennan was a kind and gentle man who taught her to be accepting of everyone and her mother, Ginny, was a strong woman who she looked up to and she always knew where the good crayons were hiding.

She graduated from Weare High School in 1966 and went on to graduate college at the University of New Hampshire in 1970. She loved college life where she studied social work and education. Her freshman year, she met her husband, Bill Stafford and they have been a part of each other’s lives ever since. She had wonderful memories of college especially the people and parties at Bill’s Phi Mu Delta fraternity. Bill and Jean got married and started their lives together August 30th,1969 as seniors in college. They were soulmates and everyone around them could only hope to have half as much love as they did for each other.

Jean’s ability to connect with everyone around her was unmatched. As a 5th and 6th grade teacher at the Weare Middle School and coach, she positively impacted the lives of so many children.

Jean and Bill decided to expand their family and have two kids, Mike and Jenny. She always supported their dreams and helped them become the people they are today. Whether it was helping them become the best athlete they could be or helping them finish a last minute project for school, she was always there to lend a helping hand. She was always excited to host her kids’ friends whether it was a post-game party, or if they needed some advice. The Stafford Bed and Breakfast was always open.

Eventually she did her job so well as a mother her kids had kids. She loved her grandchildren Diana, Logan, Haley, and Ally. She was an amazing grandmother and spent tons of time helping to raise them. They had the most fun with her during family sleepovers where they laid out mattresses in the living room and had a big cousins party and played all night. She loved watching them play sports and never missed a game. She was a loving friend to all and brought the party with her wherever she went. Her bright light was dimmed too soon, but that did not stop her from attending UNH Homecoming two weeks prior where her two grandchildren Diana and Haley are studying. She thoroughly enjoyed her life and loved all of her siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. She was loved by so many and will be missed. We love you Jean, Mumma, and Grammy.

A private service will be held at the Weare Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date.

The family is so appreciative of the Hospice Services, kindness and sympathy provided by the Granite VNA. They are truly wonderful people.
