Jeanne A Boyd

Jeanne Boyd passed away peacefully on December 30th at Presidential Oaks in Concord, NH; where she had been living for the past three years. She was 98 years old.

Jeanne was born on October 2nd, 1927 in Winthrop, MA to Webster Allen and Eleanor (Botsford) Allen. She graduated from Framingham High School. In 1947 she married Robert (Bob) Kowalski. Together they raised four sons. They moved from Massachusetts to Epsom, NH in 1971 where they started Riverside Precision Sheet Metal and later moved the business and their home to Henniker, NH. Jeanne held various jobs through the years but she was most proud of her position as an executive secretary at Chubb Insurance in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

A few years before Bob passed, he and Jeanne were able to pursue their dream of having racehorses. They both enjoyed this adventure, travelling to Suffolk Downs outside of Boston where the horses primarily raced. Their horses also raced at Meadowlands and Rockingham Park.

After being widowed and retiring from her job, Jeanne ventured across the Atlantic to attend Elderhostel programs in Europe. She biked through the Netherlands and explored castles in Scotland and Wales. She then settled down into a routine of winters in Destin, Florida and summers at Merrymeeting Lake in NH. Jeanne became very active with the snowbirds in her area of Florida and served as President of the Destin Snowbirds Club. Jeanne met her second husband, Donald (Don) Boyd, in Florida and they married in 1994. Jeanne loved the camp on Merrymeeting Lake that she and Bob built in the 1960s’. She could be seen swimming on the lake well into her 80’s. She served as an officer of the Merrymeeting East End Association and she was on the board of the Merrymeeting Lake Association (MMLA). She was honored as Grand Marshall of the MMLA Boat parade in 2022, in celebration of the association’s Diamond Jubilee.

Jeanne was predeceased by her first Husband, Robert S. Kowalski, and her second husband, Donald T Boyd. She is survived by her four sons, Robert S. Kowalski Jr. of Panama City, FL, Richard J. Kowalski of Rochester, NH, John A. Kowalski or Henniker, NH and Paul F. Kowalski or Loudon, NH. She is also Survived by eleven grandchildren, and eight great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
