It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Michael Abrams (age 53) of Northfield, New Hampshire. Jeff passed away on July 2 in Lebanon, New Hampshire, surrounded by loved ones.

The beloved son of Carol Goldberg and Stanton Abrams, Jeff was born in 1973 and grew up in the greater Boston area. A stellar student and athlete, Jeff attended The Fessenden School (Newton, MA) and The Noble and Greenough School (Dedham, MA), and later graduated from Vanderbilt University (1995) with degrees in Philosophy and Business. In 2007, he earned a law degree from Massachusetts School of Law, where he was valedictorian of his class.

Jeff was an avid golfer, a passion he shared with his father Stan. As a teenager, Jeff caddied for Doug Ford at The Masters at Augusta National. And after college, Jeff partnered with his father to pursue business opportunities in the golf industry. In the late 1990s, Jeff opened GolfTown, a successful golf driving range along Route 1 in Saugus, MA, which he owned, nurtured, and operated until 2005.

In 2001, Jeff married Rebecca Rubick of Great Falls, MT. The couple welcomed two sons, Max and Sam, while living in Dedham. They later moved to Dover, where Max and Sam attended school.

Jeff cared deeply about affordable housing and the development of emerging economies. After law school, Jeff worked with Bankable Frontiers, a consulting firm that provides banking and financing solutions for entrepreneurs in underdeveloped countries. This position opened the door to extensive international travel in Africa, India, and South America, and a brief relocation with his family to Nairobi, Kenya.

Jeff eventually shifted his business focus to creating affordable housing options in the greater Boston area. On his own and in partnership with longtime friend Erik Kornfeld, he invested in and developed properties in and around the Boston area, and later in New Hampshire.

In 2021, Jeff and Rebecca separated and Jeff relocated to New Hampshire, inspired by his sons’ love of mountain biking and skiing, and their boundless sense of adventure. Both Max and Sam share his love for sports, friendly competition, and the outdoors. Max (19) is a competitive downhill mountain bike racer and works at Highland Mountain Bike Park as an instructor and trail builder. Sam (17) is an avid golfer and rock climber, and will graduate high school in 2027.

In addition to the home he shared with the boys near Highland Park, Jeff acquired an island property in the New Hampshire Lakes region, which he shared with his partner Michelle.

Jeff was known to his family and friends for his wonderful, dry sense of humor, his straightforwardness, his business acumen, his generosity, his penchant for quoting “Seinfeld,” and his unique ability to distill every problem, challenge, and life decision into Excel format. He was analytical, entrepreneurial, creative, and passionate about environmental protection, freedom of contract, and personal liberty. He enjoyed spending time outside and kept active on the golf course and basketball court. He will truly be missed by his friends, his golfing and basketball compatriots and, most of all, by his family and loved ones.

Jeff is predeceased by his father, Stan. He is survived by his beloved sons Max and Sam (who were the center of his universe), his mother Carol and her husband Steve, his step mother Kathy, his sister Lauren and brother Gregory, and his loving partner Michelle, all of whom will cherish his memory.
