Jeffrey W. Babington
Jeffrey W. Babington, 81, passed away peacefully Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.
Jeff was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, on Aug. 6, 1942, to Edward and Albertine (Galvao) Babington.
He graduated from Durfee High School in Fall River, then attended Calvin Coolidge College (now Suffolk University), where he earned a degree in psychology.
Jeff then went on to Springfield College, where he earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology.
For several years, Jeff worked for the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, before being named the Director of Rehabilitation at the Carroll Center in Newton, Massachusetts, where he formed many lifelong friendships during his tenure.
Jeff then moved into the corporate world, joining Digital Equipment Corp's sales and service organization. He would become a Business Manager at Hewlett Packard Corporation (which had acquired DEC) and retired after 25 years.
During his "retirement," Jeff started a business, then signed on as a school bus driver for First Student Transportation.
He enjoyed working with the dedicated people at the Nashua depot. Transporting “his” students safely to school on Bus Route 454 was a highlight of his life. Jeff loved a good glass of cabernet, a rousing game of poker with “the boys”, and was a lifelong dog lover, especially his grand dog, Kemba.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Pamela Babington; a daughter, Amanda, and her husband Bill Dapkus; his beloved grandchildren, Maddox and Brooks Dapkus; and a son, Adam Babington, all of Nashua; a brother, Darryl Babington and his partner, Lori Williams; a nephew, Greg Babington and his wife, Melissa; and a great-nephew, Alex, all of Attleboro, Massachusetts; cousins Ila and John Cabral of Swansea, Massachusetts; John Cabral of New York City; Christine Cabral of California; Jennifer Cunha of Rhode Island; and Roberta and Roland Proulx of Fall River.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at St. Joseph Hospital and the staff of the Community Hospice House for their care of Jeff.
The family has chosen to have a private memorial. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH, Manchester.
If you would like to make a memorial donation in Jeff’s name, the Humane Society for Greater Nashua, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, or The Community Hospice House, 201 Naticook Road, Merrimack are two good choices.
