Jennifer Ruth Cassidy, 73, of Nashua, NH, passed away on September 13, 2023 surrounded by her children, as the clouds broke and rays of sunshine shone brilliantly upon her. She took her final breaths with her children holding her hands and left this life peacefully, bathed in love.
Jen’s life began on August 13, 1950 to Kathryn Ella and William Hartwell Webb in Plymouth, MA. A descendant of Peregrine White, the first baby boy born on the Mayflower, Jen was a proud member of the Mayflower Society. A graduate of Whitman Regional High School, she excelled in school, played the piano and was an avid reader. Danielle Steele quickly became her favorite author, alongside James Patterson, John Grisham, Sidney Sheldon, Lilian Jackson Braun, and Agatha Christie, to name a few. She was loyal to her friends, friendly, intelligent and enjoyed a sense of humor. She grew up in a multi-generational household in Hanson, listening to the Beatles and Elvis, with her parents, two brothers and her grandmother, “Grammy,” who she shared a special bond with.
Jen spent many years working as a home health aide caring for those who could not care for themselves, while raising her five children, Julie, Karyn, Matthew, Laura and Stephen. Strong-willed, resilient, fiery and determined, like the generations of women who came before her, she taught her children how to be independent, to speak their minds and treat others with compassion. Her children exemplified this independence in every way, giving her a run for her money, while simultaneously filling her with a tremendous source of pride. Ask any of her friends and they will tell you she talked about her children (and grandchildren) often, sharing each of their accomplishments in detail! She was proud of her children for the compassion they demonstrated in their service to others through education, counseling, the military, raising their families and being loyal to their loved ones. She loved her family passionately and wanted nothing but happiness for them.
Although Jen faced numerous obstacles in her life, she believed “strength was born from adversity” and we should “look for the new beginnings every day.” She was brave beyond measure and thought “not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” She sought solace in her spiritual beliefs and believed “on the third day he rose again in accordance with the scripture.”
As a long time resident of Nashua, she sends a message of gratitude to her friends, neighbors and staff at Millette Manor, Mark at the Nashua Public Library, the Nashua Soup Kitchen, the staff at Harbor Homes and the Main Street United Methodist Church. To her family, she gifts them with a message of love and forgiveness: “forget the former things, do not dwell on the past, begin where you are with what you are and soldier on.” And to the future generations, she can’t wait to see who you will become.
Jen was predeceased by her mother and father, Kathryn and William Webb, her brother Bill Webb and her partner David. Her memory will live on through her children and their spouses, Julie Tetreault, Karyn Cassidy, Laura Donaghy, Matthew Cassidy and Stephen Squires; her nine grandchildren, Corey Carter, Ashley Tetreault, Holly Tetreault, Tyler Tetreault, Nikolas Martin, Nethenal Martin, Noelle Martin, Rowan Martin and Mackenzie Cassidy; her brother Jon Webb and family; her sister-in-law Diane Webb and family; her cousin Peg Moseley and family; her nieces and nephews and good friends Marie-Elaine Dinter, Lesa Smith, Carolyn May and Iris Hostetler.
A service will be held at the Main Street United Methodist Church in Nashua, NH, followed by a Celebration of Life at Benson Park in Hudson, NH. Donations can be made in memory of Jennifer Cassidy to the Main Street United Methodist Church in support of their social justice programming or to the Nashua Public Library Books by Mail program. Jennifer was a proud cornea donor of New England Donor Services and would encourage others to consider making a life changing donation for someone in need.
