Jo-Ann M Thornton

Jo-Ann Marie (Cangimilla) Thornton, 59 years old, died unexpectedly on October 30, 2023 at Parkland Medical Center. She was born on April 7, 1964 in Malden, MA. She was the devoted wife of Dana Thornton. They were married on January 29, 1995 in Atkinson, NH but have been in love since 1985.

Jo-Ann lived to care for her beloved grandchildren, Tatiana Cangimilla, Ava Giuffre, and Franklin Kirby. She was a loving mother to Nicole Cangimilla, daughter of Ann Cangimilla-Romano, and sister of Michael Cangimilla.

Jo-Ann started and ended her day caring for those who she loved. From shopping, braiding Tatianas hair, taking Ava to get her nails done, or spoiling Frankie, it was what made her happiest; other than giving Dee a hard time to keep him in line to a get a smile. Always the two of them laughing together since the day she met him she knew she was in love. Not only a wife, naanie, mother, aunt, niece, and cousin of many, she was devoted to all her friends, neighbors, and community. She treated everybody kindly like they were family.

Predeceased by her father Vincent Cangimilla and stepfather John Romano.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Chen’s Restaurant, 122 East Broadway, Derry, NH on Thursday, November 9th from 5-8pm. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
