Joan Lisle Anderson, nee Williams, age 92, died surrounded by her family on Monday, December 6, 2022, at her home in New Durham, New Hampshire. She was born in Camden, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Joseph Lisle Hindmarsh Williams and Helen Esther Williams.
Joan was the dear wife of the late Don Ramon Anderson and wonderful mother and mother-in-law to daughter, Stephanie Lisle MacKenzie and her husband, Iain Stuart MacKenzie, son, Timothy Lisle Anderson and his wife, Julia Anderson and daughter, Jennifer Lisle Anderson. She was a doting grandmother to Alexander James Shapiro and his wife, Grace (Carter) MacKenzie, John Lisle Shapiro, William Lisle Shapiro, Sophie Elizabeth Rudolph, Kyle Christopher Rudolph, Olivia Lisle Rudolph and Benjamin Lisle Anderson and his husband, William Rusche; as well as two granddaughters, Madeleine MacKenzie Shapiro and Nathalie MacKenzie Shapiro. She is also survived by her brother, Jonathan Lisle Williams; her sister, Judith “Polly” Lisle Wessel and her husband, David Carl Wessel; as well as many nephews, nieces and great nephews and great nieces.
Joan was a Fine Arts major who continued to paint throughout her life; her paintings were especially coveted by friends and family. She was also a seamstress; she could make a prefect copy of a Chanel suit and she would cut down her old ball gowns for her daughters’ Halloween costumes. Joan loved gardening and her iris beds were especially beautiful.
Joan loved spending holidays and vacations with her family on Long Beach Island in New Jersey and their home in Seaside, Florida. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to visit her children in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Europe.
Joan will be deeply missed.
