Joan E. Cavoli, 72, of Bedford, NH, passed away on November 20, 2021. Joan was the daughter of Rose V. Cavoli and John F. Cavoli born in New Haven, CT and raised in North Haven. She attended Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden, and then attended Russell Sage College and Iowa State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She earned a Master of Library and Information Science from Southern Connecticut University, New Haven. She put her library degree to work for many years in the cataloging department of Mount Holyoke College, Hadley, MA. Always adventurous, Joan made a major career change moving to Philadelphia, PA, and earned a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Widener University, Chester, PA. She was an accredited psychologist in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She was employed at the Counseling Center of New England, In Nashua, NH before becoming a private practitioner until her retirement. Joan loved cooking, cats, politics and volunteering at the local libraries and social service agencies.
Joan is survived by her sister Sandra M. Walker and husband Bruce R. Walker of Amherst, NH; her nieces Sara C. Walker and Meghan E. Walker both of Providence, RI; her nephew Christopher J. Walker of Cambridge, MA; her cousin Robert Vocelli who served as her financial and health care agent in her later years, his wife, Virginia, of West Hartford, CT; and her cousin Thomas Vocelli, Hamden, CT. In addition, she is survived by many loving cousins, second cousins and friends.
A private graveside service was held at Saint Mary Cemetery. Hamden, CT. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a future date.
