Joan Pfaff Cornett, age 87, passed away on September 22, 2021.

'Joanie' was born in Binghamton, New York on August 26, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Pfaff of Fayetteville, New York and later St. Petersburg, Florida. Joan grew up in the DeWitt, Fayetteville - Manlius area of central NY and graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1952. She was a member of Delta Kappa Sorority and Sub Deb Club. She attended Cortland State Teachers College where she was a member of the Nu Sigma Chi Sorority.

Joan and her family moved from Manlius NY to New Hampshire in 1971. She loved music and joined the Amoskeag Strummers Banjo Band, performing for many years throughout New England; Baltimore, MD; New Orleans, LA; Toronto, Canada and a two week playing tour in Germany. She was most noted for her 'spoon' playing and joyful smile. She was also a member of the Hooksett Entertainers group that performed for long term care facilities in southern NH. Joan further enjoyed volunteering as a member of the NH Ambassadors that served at the Manchester Airport.
Joan obtained her Real Estate Brokers license in 1980 and was a member of the NH Board of Realtors. In addition to selling real estate, Joan worked as a receptionist in a dental office. For many years she was a member of Bethany Covenant Church and performed with the Chancel Choir. Surviving family include her daughters Corinne Pullen of Canterbury NH and Cheryl Fimbel of Bozeman, Montana, her son Scott Cornett of Milford, NH, and 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Joan was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Robert Scott Cornett.Joanie was the embodiment of the word 'Joyful'. Her greatest joy was her family, her passion was music, and her riches were her friends. A special thank you to the caregivers at Merrimack County Nursing Home who went out of their way to provide special care and friendship to Joan - it meant a lot to her and her family.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held on October 13th in Canterbury, NH. Memorial donations may be made in Joan's honor to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
