Joan Frances (Wagner) Gorman

Joan Frances (Wagner) Gorman, 91, of Derry NH, passed away at her home on February 2, 2021.

She was born November 21, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio and was the daughter of Albert W. and Nora M. (Blake) Wagner. She grew up in Cleveland and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in East Cleveland in 1947. She moved to Boston MA in the 1950s where she was a bookkeeper and met her husband Vincent Paul Gorman. Over the years she lived in Somerville MA, Salem NH, Tilton, NH, and Boscawen NH before moving to Derry NH. She drove a school bus in Salem from 1974-1982. She worked at Dunkin Donuts in Methuen MA for many years. She was a bookkeeper at Rockingham County Trust Co. in Salem NH. She was a devout Catholic and former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salem, NH.

Joan enjoyed gardening, reading, playing card games, stamp and coin collecting, bird watching, jigsaw puzzles and especially crossword puzzles. She loved all animals, especially dogs and cats. She was sharp as a tack till the end. She loved her family more than anything. As a girl she played basketball on her high school team. She was always a big sports fan of Cleveland and Boston teams.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Eileen Marie (Gorman) DeLong and son in law Eric Parker DeLong of Derry, NH, with whom she shared a home with for 20 years. 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, a son who would have been named Shawnasee, four sisters; Genevieve Eileen "Genny" Thebeault, Mary Patricia Carpenter, Theresa Smith and a brother John "Jack" Wagner.

A private family service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
