Joanne Marie Hornung

Joanne Marie Hornung, 78, of Manchester N.H. and Pinellas Park, FL. Passed away on October 11, 2022, after complications from heart surgery, surrounded by her two children and spouses. 

Born in St Johnsbury Vt. on July 16, 1944, the daughter of Favila (Joseph) and Elnora Viens. She grew up in Lisbon, NH and graduated from Lisbon High school in 1963. She graduated from LaBarons Hairdressing Academy in Manchester, NH and continued a career as a hairdresser for many years and later worked at Hanford Supermarkets. 

Joanne loved sailing on Lake Winnipesaukee with her husband and friends, walking the beaches in Florida and cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren as much as possible. She also enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, and painting. 

She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, proud mother, daughter, and friend to so many. 

Joanne is predeceased by her parents, Elnora and Joseph Viens, and husband of 52 years, Walter L. Hornung. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Croteau and husband Alain, her son Eric Hornung and wife Stacey, grandchildren Gavin Croteau, and Maverick and Maximus Hornung, her siblings, Howard Viens and Pauline Roberts, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday Oct 23, 2022, from 1 pm to 4 pm at Makris Lobster and Steakhouse.   

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association. 

Assisting with arrangements is the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, Manchester.
