JoEllen (nee Ryder) Jacod, 77, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024 in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Born on September 23rd, 1946 in Poughkeepsie, NY, as the 2nd daughter of Edson and Marjorie Ryder. The family later relocated to Upper Saddle River NJ when she was very young where she remained until marriage. She met Edward W Jacod Sr. in August 1967 in Suffern, NY and they married on September 14th, 1968 in Upper Saddle River. After some years of renting homes in Lodi and Paramus NJ, they bought their first home in Haworth NJ where they lived there for 25 years. In her final years she resided in Gilsum NH. In 1972 she completed her Bachelor’s Degree at Farleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck NJ and shortly thereafter took a position at Wyssmont in Fort Lee NJ. Some years later she began a career in mortgage banking which lasted until 2000. Once settled in NH worked as a secretary for the firm of Bragdon, Baron and Kossayda before finally retiring. She enjoyed baking (family members eagerly awaited her Christmas cookies each holiday season), making beer and wine, refinishing antique furniture, running local marathons, gardening, reading and spending time with family and pets. When diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2010 she faced it head-on, researching and trying many treatments including Rock Steady Boxing for which was featured in a Boston evening TV news reel. Predeceased by her older sister Lynn Ryder and survived by her younger sister Melissa Ryder, husband Edward W Jacod Sr, son Edward W Jacod Jr, niece Deborah Chirgwin, nephew Robert Jacod Jr and niece Karen Finn. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 11am-1pm, with a Celebration of Life from 1-1:30 pm, on February 22, 2024 at Ker Phaneuf Funeral Home, 57 High Street in Brattleboro, VT. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
