John "Jack" Lane Black passed away peacefully on August 31, 2016 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton NH after a brief illness. He was born May 2, 1935 in Cambridge, MA and graduated from Rindge High School. He went on to serve his country for 6 years in the United States Navy spending time stationed aboard the USS Leyte and USS Saratoga. On May 25th, 1963 he married his wife, Claire Ziegler and moved across the country to explore their new life together. He raised his family in Anaheim, CA, Lindenhurst, IL, and Mission Viejo, CA. He returned to the east coast to spend his retirement in Nashua, NH.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Claire, his daughters and their spouses Karen and Stuart, Colleen and Robert and 5 grandchildren Catriona, Meghan, Abigail, Rowan and Autumn as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Thomas "Dewey" and Dorothea Black and siblings Paul, Thomas, Dorothy, and Jean.
He was well known for his love of Steven King books, Sci-fi shows and movies, his funny jokes, and hours spent tinkering with anything broken. His dry sense of humor was loved by all, and his, "Do Not Smile" comment (with a stern look) when you were sad, always had the exact opposite effect, it made you smile!
All who knew him loved him.
Honoring his wishes we will be having a memorial service at Immaculate Conception in Nashua NH on October 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is assisting the family with arrangements.
