John Dennis Darcy

John Dennis Darcy, 73, of Fitchburg, MA, passed away on April 20, 2023. He was a beloved brother, father, and Grandfather, and will be missed dearly.

Denny is survived by his sons, Sean Darcy, Tim Darcy and wife Suong, and Kyle Darcy and Imaris Antonetti; his Grandchildren, Benjamin Darcy, Keaton Darcy, and Blake Darcy; and his siblings, Kathy Mackiewicz and husband Mitch, Patricia Lynch, Susan Jarrard and husband Jack, Michael Darcy and Wife Natalie, Rod Darcy and Wife Pam, James Darcy and Patricia Dillon, Kevin Darcy and Wife Anne, Ellen Schotanus and husband Thom, Paul Darcy and wife Brenda, Bruce Darcy, and Ann Bernard and husband Jim.

He is predeceased by His Son Keith Patrick Darcy and his Father and Mother, Roderick and Ellen Darcy.

Denny served for two years in the US Navy from 1967-1969 and received an honorable discharge.

Dennis was a lifelong resident of Fitchburg and a 1967 graduate of St. Bernard’s High School. He joined the Navy and upon discharge, he went on to hold various positions working for Selig Manufacturing Co., Seaboard, Demoulas, Digital Equipment Company, and Compaq, where he last worked as a warehouse specialist.  

Sports was the mainstay of his life, He was an avid supporter of the biddy league basketball in Fitchburg where he assisted with coaching for many teams over the years. He played in the city softball league playing for various teams across the city and then served as an umpire after his playing days were over. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics.

A memorial and interment service will be held on Monday, August 21st at 10:00am at the Massachusetts Veteran Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend.
