John J. Downes

John J. Downes, 80, of Manchester, died August 9, 2004, at Catholic Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born March 12, 1924, in Manchester, NH and was the son of Patrick and Margaret (Window)Downes and resided 40 years in Weare, NH before moving back to Manchester seven years ago. He was a W.W. II U. S. Army Veteran stationned in Italy and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Family members include his wife of 45 years, Margaret (Cloonan) Downes of Manchester, a son, Jack Downes of Somersworth, NH; two daughters, Elizabeth Koch of Lee, NH and Mary Downes of Goffstown, NH, eight grandchildren, three sisters; Mary Trephon of Manchester, NH, Peg Cravens of East Meadow, Long Island, New York and Tess Downes of Manchester, NH, many nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES: A memorial reception will be held for Mr. Downes at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire Chapel, 243 Hanover Street, on Friday evening from 5 to 6 O'clock with a service immediately following in our Chapel at 6 O'clock.
