John Edward Gillis
John Edward Gillis, 81, of Taunton MA, passed away on October 12, 2014 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH surrounded by his loving family.
He was born at St Elizabeth's Hospital, Boston, MA on November 29, 1932 and was the son of the late Walter C. and Dorothy F. (Eyre) Gillis.
John was a Senior Software Engineer and retired from Stratus Technologies. He was enlisted in the US Naval Air Reserve (1950-1958). John earned two degrees from Northeastern University, which included a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1956 and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1961.
John was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, roller skating dance (in his youth), spending time with his family on Cape Cod, and volunteering at the Taunton Public Library as a math tutor.
John will be remembered as a loving father and brother. His family was paramount to him and he will be missed very much.
He is survived by his daughters Lisa and Susan, 2 granddaughters, brothers Walter and Steve, sister Jean, and many good friends.
