Auburn- John Walter Hollen, 86 of Seabrook, NH died Monday evening February 15,2016 at the Mount Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in
Manchester NH after a two year struggle with cancer.
Born and raised in Ashville Pennsylvania on May 6, 1929, he was the youngest son of Walter C. Hollen and Pauline (Wilt) Hollen.
John attended grammar school in Ashville and high school in Cresson, PA. In 1947 he joined the Army Air Corp and completed many tours of duty with Germany being his favorite assignment. In 1951 he was stationed at the Pentagon in Arlington VA with the Department of the Air Force. While there he met and married his wife and best friend Colleen.
After discharge from the Air Force John and Colleen made their home in Seabrook NH where they raised their three children. In 2002 they celebrated 51 years of marriage.
John worked at Ross Garage at Hampton Beach for his father in law Arthur E Bickford for a few years. He then accepted employment at W.E. Atkinson and Sons in Newburyport MA. In 1981 he started his own business Hollen Oil Burner Service retiring in 1998. John and Colleen moved to Auburn NH in 1999 to enjoy retirement.
John is survived by his three children Lois A. Moore and her husband Don of Hampton, Michael J, Hollen and his wife Theresa of Ticonderoga NY and
Joseph W. Hollen and his wife Joanne of Weare, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three nieces, two nephews and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his older brother Robert J. Hollen in 1997 and his wife in 2003,
Services will be held with the immediate family at a future date.
