John (“Jack”) A. Russell Sr., 92, passed away on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, in Dorchester, NH. He was born on April 24th, 1930, in Boston, MA, the son of the late John A. Firth and Sally Russell (Soul), and stepson of John Russell.
He was the husband of the late Edith G. Russell (Cameron). They were married on October 9th, 1954 at Grace Episcopal Church in Medford, MA.
Jack joined the military in 1947 as part of the occupation troops overseas. He served three consecutive tours of duty with the 187th Regimental Combat Team in Korea. Following his honorable military discharge, Jack worked at Raytheon Technologies in Andover, MA until his retirement in 1992.
During his retirement, Jack enjoyed fishing, camping, painting, and playing cards with family. Jack also liked gardening in his back yard in Salem, NH. He loved to help out at the horse farm in Weare.
He is predeceased by his grand-daughter Shannon E. Tuck-Morin who passed away in 2007 at 29.
Jack is survived by his three children, John A. Russell Jr, and wife Linda, Joani Awahsos and Jeff J. Russell and wife Marie; five grandchildren: Jennifer Marsella, Travis Tuck, Joanna Russell, Wes Russell, and Andrew Russell and his wife, Ashley, as well as six great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Amanda and Vinny Lyndon, Ethan Marsella and Scarlet, Autumn Tuck, Aurora Russell.
SERVICES: A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 20th, 2023 from 11-12PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover St. Manchester, NH. Following the service, at 1PM, there will be a graveside service at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
