John Jaynes

John “Jock” Francis Jaynes, age 79, died peacefully in his home in Portsmouth, NH on March 17, 2022, with his wife by his side.

John was born on September 28, 1942 in Waltham, Massachusetts. He attended Butler Elementary School and graduated from Belmont High School. He started his career on an assembly line and worked his way up the corporate ladder, retiring from Hewlett-Packard as a Principal Engineer. After a brief retirement, John bought the fitness center where he had worked out for years. Five years later, he retired again and moved to Cape Cod where he spent his days doing what he loved most...working part time as a gardener's assistant and fishing. John and his wife moved to Portsmouth, NH in 2019.

John was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and brother and a loyal friend. His gentle spirit and dry humor will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

John is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Mary Jaynes (Urbaczewski)and his siblings, George Jaynes and Margaret Ottens.

John is survived by his wife, Mary (Bianco); their daughter, Julie Jaynes and her wife Lori Kondratowicz of Thompson, CT; two sons, John Jaynes and his wife Jennifer Newton of Reading, MA, and Jimmy Jaynes and his fiancée Sandra Candalaria of Framingham, MA; and grandson, Spenser Newton Jaynes. He is also survived by his seven siblings, Joann Sullivan, Carol Dargie, Tom Jaynes, Linda Mazzarini, Ele Jaynes, Richard Jaynes, and Deborah Sweeney.

Arrangements: A Memorial Service to celebrate John’s life and honor his passing will be held on Saturday, May 7 at 11:30AM at The Church of The Good Shepherd, 95 Woburn Street, Reading. MA. All who wish to share in this celebration are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, we respectfully ask that donations in John’s memory be made to Gather, Seacoast Family Food Pantry, http://www.gathernh.org/.
