John Joseffy, of Whitefield, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at his home after a long illness. John was born May 6, 1953 in Brooklyn, N.Y. and raised in Centereach, NY on Long Island. In 1974 he married his high school sweetheart Wendy J. Stevens of Setauket, NY, to whom he was married for 32 years. In 1976 he graduated with a B.A. from Oswego College. The following year he and Wendy moved to Whitefield, where he had been offered a job teaching Industrial Arts at the C.D. McIntyre School. John moved over to the newly formed Profile School two years later. In 1986 John was named N.H. teacher of the year, and in 1990 he received his Masters degree in education from Antioch New England. His teaching career spanned 29 years. He was very proud of the Profile School and to be a part its staff and was loved by students and teachers alike. John was an active member of the Whitefield Lions Club, an avid supporter of the Weathervane Theatre, past president of Profile teachers union and played a major role in the revitalization of Weeks State Park on Mt. Prospect. But most importantly he was the loving husband of Wendy, and the father of two beloved children, Erica and Justin. His family meant everything to him. John is survived by his wife, Wendy Joseffy; two children, Erica and Justin Joseffy; his father, John G. Joseffy; two sisters, Patricia Minnitti, Nancy VanTine; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; many friends and students. He was predeceased by his mother Rosemary and sister Carol Costello. A memorial service will be held at the Community Baptist Church in Whitefield on Thursday, March 23, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to benefit The Weathervane Theatre, PO Box 127, Whitefield, NH 03598.
