John Timothy "Tim" Lane

John Timothy "Tim" Lane, 68, of Barnstead, NH, died surrounded by his family on December 29th at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH. Born in 1945 in Richmond, VA, he grew up in Keene, NH and, at the age of 10, his family moved to Maryland for his father to take advantage of a new job opportunity. Growing up Tim was very active athletically and was involved in both local and school related sports, graduating from Suitland High School in 1963 lettering in soccer, baseball, and basketball.

Tim attended college in Bradenton, FL and returned to the Maryland area to begin a long career based at DCA (Washington Reagan Airport) and later at BOS (Boston Logan Airport) with American Airlines. During his career, Tim served as a Crew Chief for the Fleet Services division and, while working at DCA, was very active in the local for the Transport Workers Union (TWU), serving as its President for several years.

His parents Henry C. and Mary "Molly" K. Lane preceded him in death. He has four children: John Timothy Lane, Jr. and his wife, Roxanne, of Maryland, Justin Patrick and his wife, Linda, of Oklahoma, Henry Chester of Virginia, Jennifer Lynn of Georgia and 10 grandchildren. His sisters Debbie Lane Dawsey and her husband, Ken, of Maryland and Penni Lane Williams and her husband, Gene, of Texas also survive him. Tim not only leaves his family, but a multitude of friends from all phases of his life. He was a wonderful, caring and giving friend, often sacrificing himself to help others in need.

An avid fisherman and hunter, Tim enjoyed the waters and seasons of New England. In the spring, friends and family will gather to sprinkle his ashes in the Long Eddy, NY area of his beloved Delaware River, as he requested. No services will be held at this time.
