John E. Lind, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation & Nursing Facility in Manchester, NH after a long period of declining health.
John was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Percy Lind and Margaret Kuriatnyk (Satka). After graduating from Minnesota Vocational High School in 1953, he entered the United States Navy. It was through his travels with the Navy that he met his future wife Diana, who was from Southampton, England. John & Diana were married in 1958 and settled on Long Island in New York to raise their four children. While living in New York, John was co-owner of a marine electronics business, Seatronics, out of Greenport, NY, where he served as Vice President.
John moved his family to Hillsborough, New Hampshire in 1977. The family built their own log house on a large parcel of land, which later became a gentleman’s farm, known as Highlind Farm, to raise Scotch Highland cattle and chickens and to grow a variety of vegetables. While maintaining the family farm, John worked as an electrical engineer for Raytheon Marine Company, from which he eventually retired. In his spare time, John was an avid ham radio enthusiast and became a licensed ham radio operator in 1965.
John was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Margaret and Andrew Kuriatnyk, his father and stepmother, Percy and Margaret Lind, a sister, Patricia McMahon of DeKalb, Illinois, an aunt, Valarie Fredell of Chisago City, Minnesota, a brother, Michael Kuriatnyk of Iron, Minnesota, as well as his wife Diana who passed in 2023. He is survived by his three daughters, one son, and one grandson: Janice M. Lind, Jennifer A. Lind and partner Cindy L. Naiditch, Roberta "Robin" M. (Lind) Theodore and husband Sean R. Theodore, Peter J. Lind and wife LisaMarie Lind, and grandson Shane E. Theodore and his fiancé Therese Lemerise. John is also survived by a sister Kathy and her spouse Rick Gross of Minnesota, a brother, Steven Kuriatnyk of Minnesota, a brother-in-law, Vincent McMahon of DeKalb, Illinois as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
