John W. Moloney, 75, of Hampton, NH, formerly of Boston, passed away on August 22, 2024. Born to the late James Moloney of Bruff, Limerick County, Ireland, and Adelaide Moloney of Dedham, MA, John lived a life marked by resilience, humor, and dedication.
A decorated U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, John served his country with honor. After his service, he built a life filled with love for his family and a deep appreciation for history, the sea, and the written word. He often enjoyed mornings by the harbor, watching fishing boats set sail, and was an avid history buff, spending hours watching documentaries. John had a particular fondness for old sail ships, reflecting his love for the ocean and the freedom it represented.
John is survived by his sons John Moloney, Marc Moloney, Liam Moloney, and his daughter Morgan Belanger, as well as his four cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Moloney, and his longtime partner Ronna, with whom he shared many years and travels before illness slowed him down. John was predeceased by his siblings John (Ronald) Wirrell, James J. Wirrell, Mary Clohessy, and Patrick Moloney.
Known for his sarcastic wit, salty humor, and fierce temper, John was the embodiment of the tough, old-school Boston spirit. He believed in the power of reading and education, always encouraging his children to pick up a book even if he wasn't always around.
John’s life was a testament to grit, love, and loyalty. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
