Jack was born in Glasgow, Scotland emigrating first to Canada and then to the United States with his young family. He made his home in the Manchester/Bedford area of NH for over 50 years. He is survived by his son David; daughters Arlene, Christine, and Susan; and his six grandchildren.
After moving to the U.S. in 1965, Jack began work as a technician in the hematology lab at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. He worked at the Elliot surrounded by dedicated and fun-loving colleagues until his retirement over 30 years later.
Jack loved sports. An avid golfer, keen bowler, occasional ice hockey player, and intermittently lucky fisherman, he was a dedicated soccer player who started kicking a ball as soon as he could walk. His great passion and skill for soccer made him a wonderful coach who led his team of 15 year old players to a NH state soccer championship.
His capacity to tell stories and jokes was remarkable. Jack drew in his audience with long and intricate tales and expertly landed his punchlines. He enjoyed dancing, wildly colorful socks, and reading historical fiction. A self-effacing and sometimes gruff perfectionist, he loved his family and friends more than they might ever realize.
SERVICES: A gathering for family and friends will be held at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH on Friday, November 3rd from 3:00 - 4:00 pm.
