John B. Serafino, 86, of Manchester, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at his home.
Born in East Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jennie (Restuccia) Serafino. Raised and educated in Cambridge, John was a graduate of Wentworth Institute earning his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and later earning his MBA from North Eastern.
An honorably discharged veteran, John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
A quiet man, John took great pride in his home. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, taking care of the yard, and wood working. One of his favorite past times was watching the Red Sox. In his younger years, John taught at local technical schools. John will be best remembered for his love of fixing things and teaching many folks along the way. John was always willing to lend a helping hand. Funny as I reflect on this and I'm sure many of you will agree he always had in mind his teaching model when helping "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day". "Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. " A gift from him that in many of our hearts will forever be sown.
John is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Neave, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage; four children; four stepchildren; several grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by eight siblings.
ARRANGEMENTS: His Memorial Gathering will be held in the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016 from 5:00 to 6:00 with a Memorial Service at 6:00P.M.
