John B. Untiet, Jr., 83, of 448 Church Street in Berlin died February 22, 2003 at him home following a lengthy bout with cancer. Mr. Untiet was born on January 9, 1920 in Manchester, NH, the son of the late John and Rose (Stuard) Untiet, Sr. He graduated from Manchester High School West in 1938 and entered the U S Navy in 1941. He served on the USS Mississippi and was honorably discharged in 1946 after 6 years of service. He was a member of the VFW 02520 and the American Legion 0036 in Berlin. He was employed at the Boston and Maine Railroad for 40 years and retired as an railroad engineer in 1981. He was a parishioner of St. Karen Church, now the Good Shepherd Church in Berlin. Family members include; his wife of 37 years, Olivette (Demers) Untiet; two stepsons, Raymond Grondin of Delray Beach, FL and Joseph Grondin of Farmington, NY; one step grandson and three step granddaughters; four brothers, Charles Untiet of Essex, MA, George Untiet of New Britian, CT, Donald and his wife Jeannine Untiet of Goffstown and Raymond Untiet of Magalea, CA; and nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held in the spring at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
