Joseph M. Bernier

Joseph passed away peacefully at home on Monday May 22, 2023.

He was born July 7th, 1955, in Dover NH the son of John and Barbara (Mone) Bernier.

He was a proud member of the American Legion post # 47 and Dover American Legion Post #8. 

Joe was dedicated to serving others, as he was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer an open door to anyone in need. Joseph was also known for his love and care of children, despite not having any of his own. He used to hold an Easter egg hunt for the children in his neighborhood for over ten years and he loved and treated Tracy’s grandchildren as his own family, buying them their first toy wagon to play with. While his sense of humor brightened countless lives, Joseph’s true happiness was found when surrounded by his beloved family, friends, and dogs. Joe was also a loyal fan of the Patriots.

His kindness and love will be greatly missed.

Joseph was predeceased by his two brothers David and Peter, and his brother-in-law, Michael Giuliano.

Joseph is survived by his partner of many years, Tracy Hughes, his brother, Rick Bernier and his wife Marie of North Berwick, Maine, and his two sisters, Nancy Giuliano of North Berwick, Maine, and Susan Bernier of Dover, NH. Joseph is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
